Manage cross-border healthcare crisis through regional negotiation and technical decision-making
Description
This interactive 3-hour simulation challenges healthcare professionals to coordinate a regional response to a complex health emergency affecting countries across the Western Pacific. Participants represent assigned countries and address scenarios involving emerging infectious diseases, pandemic threats, pharmaceutical supply disruptions, natural disasters, island-health access challenges, healthcare workforce shortages, or other regional emergencies. Participants prepare by studying the healthcare system, resources, vulnerabilities, and strategic priorities of their assigned country. During the session, delegations negotiate joint responses and must justify decisions using clinical evidence, public health principles, health-system capacity, logistics, and humanitarian considerations. The simulation develops healthcare diplomacy, international negotiation, crisis leadership, communication, and evidence-based decision-making.
