Interactive Medical Writing Workshop: Case Report

Turn a clinical case into a clear, well-structured scientific manuscript in this interactive 3-hour Medical Writing Workshop. Designed for medical students, physicians, residents, and early-career researchers, the session is especially suitable for beginners who want practical, supervised experience in case-report writing. microscopIA will provide a de-identified clinical case previously used for educational or manuscript-development purposes. Participants will work from the same case and progressively build a complete case-report structure following the conventions commonly used by PubMed-indexed biomedical journals. The exercise is for training only and is not intended for submission, publication, or authorship. Under instructor supervision, participants will develop the title, abstract, introduction, case presentation, diagnostic assessment, therapeutic intervention, follow-up, discussion, conclusion, references, and, when appropriate, figures, tables, patient perspective, and informed-consent considerations. The emphasis is on selecting clinically relevant information, building a logical narrative, writing concisely, integrating the literature, identifying the educational value of the case, and avoiding common weaknesses in case-report manuscripts. This is a hands-on workshop, not a lecture. Participants will write and revise sections during the live session, receive guidance as they work, and leave with a clear framework for completing the manuscript exercise independently. After the workshop, participants will have 48 hours to submit a completed or substantially advanced version of their manuscript exercise. The instructor will provide educational feedback focused on structure, clarity, scientific writing, completeness, and areas for improvement. The objective is not to produce a manuscript for immediate submission, but to develop transferable medical-writing skills that participants can apply to their own future clinical cases and research projects.
