Manage cross-border healthcare crisis through regional negotiation and technical decision-making
Description
This interactive 3-hour simulation places healthcare professionals in a regional commission responding to a complex health emergency involving multiple European countries. Participants represent assigned countries and must negotiate coordinated responses to challenges such as emerging infectious diseases, cross-border patient movements, pharmaceutical shortages, health workforce pressures, humanitarian crises, critical-care capacity, or disruptions affecting regional healthcare systems. Participants prepare by reviewing the structure, resources, vulnerabilities, and priorities of their assigned health system. During the simulation, they must reconcile national interests with regional responsibilities and develop realistic agreements based on clinical evidence, health-system capacity, logistics, and public health considerations. The activity develops negotiation, healthcare diplomacy, crisis management, international communication, and collaborative decision-making skills.
